July Update - Wild Harmonies 0.7


Hey everyone! We're back again with another update. Nothing major this month to report, so let's just get right to the update notes.

What's New

  • Aelfric Day 7: A little talk about costumes and a demonstration on the applications of magic in Umberg! Won’t spoil any more than that.
  • Balto Day 7: A relatively mundane day again. Nothing crazily special, but there’s a little set up for later.
  • The jobs are coming back into the mix today. After a day off, hopefully everything goes smoothly!

What's Fixed

  • I forgot to call the day transition function between day 5 and 6. That’s in now.
  • Many small visual bugs with the new Balto sprite
  • Aelfric seems to like being a nudist, much to my programming annoyance. I've hopefully returned his clothes on day 3/4 for real this time.
  • Text and grammar errors (that weren’t intentional)
  • Animations have been changed to look smoother, but the change messes with the animation timing a bit
    • I'll do some housekeeping to fix this, but things may look wonky prior to day 7 for a little while

What's to Come

  • Drellis and Trax's day 7's.
  • Drellis' sprite will hopefully be finished by v0.9; He's looking very good so far, and I think you'll like him!
  • New music! I've composed a new track to act as the theme of Drellis.
    • I intend to give each character a theme like this.
    • Character themes, while representing a certain aspect of one character or another, won't be exclusive to them because they're also intended to portray a feeling. It's like how in Stardew Valley some character themes play at times when that character isn't involved at all.
  • More UI bits and bobs. The next thing in the works is a background image for the menus.
    • This is not the same as the title image, which I'll be commissioning once I have the main 5 cast members sprites done.

Still a lot in store for the future, and I'm excited to say that I'm finally finished with the story setup at this point, which means things are going to get more interesting as the days continue. I'm also working towards composing more music, so expect to hear more of it in the future. I'm still not real good at making things sound just the way I want them to, but it'll get there eventually. Expect more sound in the novel as I start improving on my workflow and getting things done more efficiently.
